Taronga is very fortunate to have five resident Sumatran Tigers, which play a very important role in the international conservation efforts to protect this Critically Endangered species. The three playful youngsters will celebrate their first birthday in August 2012.
The trio’s names are Sakti, Kartika and Kembali meaning ‘invincible’ or ‘powerful’, ‘the great’ and ‘return’.
The tigers love to swim, so are often found playing in the water. Their keepers are kept busy with tracking down the tigers’ toys, which are often floating around the enclosure.
